Chamila Gamage is an artist based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, specializing in painting, sculpture, and drawing. My work delves into themes of collective memory, profound loneliness, inner monologues, and consumer society. I am passionate about painting and sculpting, hoping to capture expressions that resonate with these emotions and ideas. Though I am largely self-taught, I continuously strive to learn from both art history and contemporary society, incorporating influences from tradition as well as the world I live in today. My art bears traces of the Kandyan-style Buddhist temple folk paintings, blending cultural heritage with reflections on modern consumerism and identity. I aim for my work to reflect the tension between tradition and the present, capturing the spirit of our time.
