ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece was based on two smaller "Two Triangles" paintings I had done. I am drawn to architectural elements and this to me feels like two buildings falling, or being seen from an very awkward angle. It is a simply a composition that can take on an abstracted architectural quality. The background on this was the most intricate undertaking, first painting, then taping off the shapes to squeegee on a thin layer of iridescence on the lines separating each small, glittered "shatter". With the different sizes of glitter, the light really gets picked up.

Kelly Brumfield-Woods' involvement in the art world began in Venice in the mid-1980’s, when, after a Venice Art Walk, she sent cards to the participating artists, offering her services as a studio assistant. By the time she was accepted to Otis, she had a full-time studio assistant business up and running, working closely with some of the top Venice artists and she made a decision to continue working rather than return to academia. Kelly’s work has recently been included in Shimmer, at Jamie Brooks Fine Art in Costa Mesa. Kelly lives and works in Los Angeles.
