Rachel's Mum Painting

I'm a professional graphic designer specialising in branding and advertising but I've always had a passion for art. I did a short course in fine art and graphic design 22 years ago and even as a young girl sketched and painted portraits. But only now I'm spending more time developing my painting style which is leaning towards bold and conceptual portraits. I have a love for palette knife painting, the layering of texture and colour, and then scraping it all off again, over and over again, until the painting reveals it's character. It's almost reveals the persons life, all the experiences, joys and hardships, just showing through each layer of paint. ` I am also seeking to merge the 2 disciplines of graphic design and fine art, which is why I love the simplicity and bold striking colour in some of my works.
