I love to paint animals and birds because I remain in complete awe of nature’s creations! Every single creature including humans is a marvel! For all the little features that make us different from other species there are invisible threads that bind us together. The sooner we realise the value of this bind and the fact that we don’t exist in isolation, the better for our race. They can exist without us but we cannot exist without every single species out there. Killing animals for our vanity (hats and clothing), stuffing pillows with feathers for our “comfort” and our endless wanton acts of murder is only destroying our own future. Let’s give it a thought as we are faced with one of the greatest crises of humanity. —————————————— These birds found in Papua New Guinea are called Kumul also known as Raggiana Bird of Paradise or Raggi’s Bird of Paradise. The males are spectacular in orange, brown, emerald green and yellow with long tail wires to impress the ladies of course who are more understated in looks. The males put up quite a show for the ladies clapping wings and shaking heads. Kumul is the National bird of Papua New Guinea and appears on their national flag. Fun fact, their national rugby team is also known by the same name.
