About The Artwork

This painting of a rain forest was inspired by a recent visit to Dorrigo National Park. Dorrigo National Park is a national park in New South Wales, Australia, 580 kilometres (360 mi) north of Sydney, and 5 kilometres east of the town of Dorrigo. The park is part of the New England Group of the World Heritage Site Gondwana Rain forests of Australia inscribed in 1986 and added to the Australian National Heritage List in 2007. The most extensive strip of diverse rain forest anywhere on earth, the area protected by the park is recognised for its exceptional natural beauty. As well as towering and lush rainforest trees, the area is renowned for its dramatic waterfalls; so much that part of the park was first reserved in 1901 to protect the Sherrard and Newell Falls along the Waterfall Way. There is also the Crystal Shower Falls, where we could walk behind the waterfall itself and the Casuarina Falls Dorrigo National Park plays home to many different animals, including 30 types of mammals, more than 128 kinds of birds and 44 species of amphibians and reptiles. Local Aboriginal custodians are involved in managing Aboriginal sites in the park, and continuing their connection to country.

AUSTRALIAN ARTIST I am an Australian artist working in Adelaide, South Australia. I paint mostly in oil, but occasionally use acrylic paints. Landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, flower paintings and abstract paintings are included in my repertoire of work. INSPIRATION FOR MY ART As an Australian artist, my inspiration comes from whatever is around me at a particular time. As an example, following a recent trip to the mid north of South Australia, I produced a series of landscape paintings, which include the beautiful Eucalyptus trees and flowers from local gardens. HISTORY My original study was textile design and Adelaide's School of Art and Craft. I then worked for 20 years in various forms of art and fashion. But, in 1997 I followed my other passion, natural health. Since arriving back in Adelaide from Sydney in 1999 I have worked full time as a Naturopath. However, in recent years I have devoted much more time to my painting. Moving full circle, as a practicing Australian artist. This includes participating in exhibitions. Also fulfilling my love of learning by continuing to study and improve my art practice, wherever and whenever I can. Over this period I have attended many and varied art courses and workshops in this time including Peter Bok at Bapea Art School, Liana Vargas Cat Leonard, and Krystina at Splashout Studio, Chelsea Lehman, Trena Everuss and Nona Burden at Adelaide Central School, John Lacey, Ruby Chew, Sophie Hann, Gerhard Ritter, and Deborah Trusson. WHERE ELSE TO FIND ME I regularly post to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
