About The Artwork

Rame Head is the tip of the Rame Penisular. The prominent 'blip' overlooking the sea is a small chapel where mass was first performed in 1397. The headland is prominent to sailors and fishermen leaving Plymouth through Plymouth Sound. It is often the last piece of land they see leaving England, and the first they see when returning home; Rame Head thus appears in the sea shanty "Spanish Ladies". The headland has long been painted by various artists, I don't class mine as one of the best...just what I saw and what my big brush and knives decided was right. Too small to add some wild ponies grazing around it or to detail the prominent Coast Guard point just over the top. I enjoyed pushing the paint around from a vantage point overlooking Whitsand Bay.
