Hypnotizing geometrical shapes and psychedelic colors in a new conceptual series of a Moscow-born artist Svetlana Amova is a mini portal to the world of big tennis. Being a passionate fan of the sport and an amateur player herself, she decided to recycle used tennis balls and to give them a new life in her artworks. Behind their decorative, joyful and playful mood, there is an important message to thoughtful consumption and social responsibility of taking care of the environment while enjoying the thrills of your favorite sport. With a minimal use of forms and colors the works acquire a maximal emotional charge of a tennis atmosphere and aesthetics. Each artwork is a ‘small world’ with its own story and energy of the players of all ages, genders and ethnicities. Besides the used tennis balls the artist collects at the tennis clubs and after matches, she plans to include a number that are signed by some of the best tennis players of our time.

Just before graduating from the most prestigious and the oldest university of design and applied arts Stroganov State University of Arts and Industry, Sveta Amova founded her own jewelry brand AMOVA Jewelry in 2003, of which she is a creative director and designer till today. Apart from her life-time passion for working with precious stones and metals and creating jewelry collections, she has always been attracted to other artistic activities like fine drawings, oil painting and sculptures. For Sveta Amova painting has always been a special way of self-expression, more subtle and sensual. The main source of her inspiration comes from nature, its’ beautiful plants and flowers. Walking in the parks and watching the skies she observes the surrounding and get ideas for her art. Recently she has been working on a new series of the works, oil on canvas, inspired by sacred legends and narrations about nature. She is often incorporating gold and silver leaves on the background of her art works, like on ancient icons, to create a sense of the endless space of eternity and divinity, our connection to cosmos. In this timeless space, the artist depicts a certain plant that has its own semantic value, sacred meaning and energy. For example, olive tree branch is a symbol of wisdom. It is believed to help people to be more reasonable and to avoid difficult and critical situations. Another source of inspiration is eucalyptus and its mystical abilities. According to Feng Shui, this “energy magnet” attracts luck and monetary growth, that is why it is recommended to put eucalyptus in the workplace or office. It is also widely believed for its ability to remove the effects of the "evil eye". Therefore, the sacred meanings of mother nature’s creations are fascinating, and the artist is trying to capture this wonder on her canvas. Svetlana currently lives in Madrid.
