About The Artwork
This was inspired by my model, Faustine, who is a talented surrealistic filmmaker and wonderful collaborator. We wanted to create a fairy-tale like atmosphere, mysterious and a little dark. The girl has found a small door, too small to be for a human, but is what is behind it wonderful or frightening? We actually did this at the cemetery of Pere Lachaise, where Jim Morrison, Modigliani, Oscar Wilde and Edith Piaf are buried, which adds to the sense of dread and wonder.
