With Warhol and Julian Opie in mind (pop art aesthetic - flat, limited colourful pallet) - I've endeavoured to create a "portrait" that presents the recognisable characteristics of Elvis, but with his "individual humanity" omitted in the removal of the eyes. His face becomes mask-like, as if something that is worn to become that beloved icon - which is something all performers must do, metaphorically at least.
