The painting focuses on the fox's exquisite features, highlighting its grace and captivating presence. The composition presents a clean and minimalistic setting, with a pure background that directs attention solely towards the subject. This simplicity allows viewers to appreciate the intricate details of the fox's appearance and its inherent charm without distractions. I saw a red fox running home from hunting during the night when I was heading out for a run early in the summer morning. I saw a brilliant flash of orange hues that were stunning. He was close to me. I've only seen one fox in my life and after I saw him, I just stood there, shocked at what I had actually seen. Coming in to such close contact with this elusive and clever animal inspired me to paint him. I find such intelligence and cunning in his eyes. I believe that is the most striking part of this portrait, his eyes. The fox's eyes, painted in hues of amber and burnt sienna, emit a radiant and direct gaze. When painting his fur, I used many hues of warm oranges, yellows, reds, browns, black, and burnt sienna. I payed close attention to detail, layering the colors to create depth and texture to give the fur its realistic, soft, and luxurious look.
