Painting: Oil on Canvas, Wood.
‘Red Max’ is part of my ‘Aviary’ series which I paint in my ‘Flare’ painting style. In this group of work I use beautiful birds that I am fond of to depict human traits and characters in a satirical way. I love satire too by the way. So, it could also be said that I am painting people at the same time.
In this piece I am utilising the magnificent red macaw, a show of marvellous colours, a natural splendour. Certainly noticeable and adorable to watch, Red Max stands out and would probably be looked upon as a show off had he to be a person. Certainly flamboyant, but do I see a bit of narcissism here, pruning his pins as if kissing and caressing himself and always looking dandy. He probably feels good as well.
Nothing wrong with looking good , definitely not. It is better than looking bad, wouldn’t you say? I suppose all of us want to look great and it is in our nature. I am sure we have all seen or come across a Red Max in our lives.....mmmm perhaps when looking in the mirror? I hope you feel good and at your best.
