ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is the first in a series of pop art paintings completed in my signature brightly colored modernist, Matisse-inspired colors. A friend of mine, seeing these new works, recently remarked that my paintings were "what Warhol might have painted, if he had been... happy" which made me laugh. This framed painting has a scarlet red background which complements the bouquet of pink, white, and orange peonies displayed in a red-and-white box inspired by the Chinese takeout containers so ubiquitous in American culture.
