Red Sails Painting

A barge with typical red sails makes it’s way up the Colne Estuary past Mersea Island on the Essex coast. At one time there were hundreds of barges plying their trade between the east coast ports of England and London. They had very shallow hulls so they could sail a long way up rivers to collect and deliver cargo. The painting continues round the sides of the canvas so there is no need for framing (unless you want to) and has been fitted with chord so is ready to hang. It has been signed on the front and sealed with an acrylic varnish.
