This is an oil painting I made as part of my mini landscape series. The idea of using a canvas as small as a postcard for a genre that is usually depicted on large surfaces since the subject itself is naturally enormous compared to, say, a portrait painting, made the painting process both more challenging and interesting. The texture of the canvas, and the relative thickness of the bristles while adding a detail contributed beautifully into the composition.

My inspiration for this series was mainly the road trips I went on in 2018. During such trips I am overwhelmed by the beauty surrounding me. I think how easy it is for nature to be so extraordinary and rich, while at the same time being very tasteful, humble and generous about it. Maybe that's why artists have been intrigued by this subject matter for so many decades or centuries. Perhaps other people have passed by the same view, but the fact that no other artist has sat on the same piece of rock, and documented that view is what makes it original and exciting.

As painting surface, I use artist quality linen canvas that I personally stretch on high quality wooden frames I order custom made from a local expert. In addition to rich pigmented high quality oil paints, I use natural or odorless turpentine while painting. I avoid using additional chemicals in order to prevent unwanted yellowing, cracks, gloss, or extra difficulty in maintenance.

The painting is mounted in high quality, white, wooden floating frame. It is 25 cm wide, 20 cm high, 5 cm deep.

I'm a Paris based artist. I love various materials but oil and ink are my all time favorites. My recent work includes themed series such as drawings of small plants, urban landscapes, or small sized nature landscapes. Portraiture has always been part of my work as well.
