There is a great need for stress relief in our fast-paced, demanding modern world, so I have created a tranquil and serene painting to help people create calm in their home and office. As I was reflecting on this need, I remembered the lyrics from a Beatles song entitled, "A Day in the Life", which I then wrote onto the watercolor paper, mounted on a solid birch wood panel. Oil paint, cold wax and pastel then followed using colors, patterns and textures to support the theme of letting go: of stress, of the need to control, of anxiety, deadlines and tension. This painting has been given a satin varnish for long life and protection, and the reverse side of the wooden panel has been routed with a "keyhole" for easy hanging.
