About The Artwork

This painting was made using the Realist Painting technique. In a realist painting, the technical accuracy and level of detail are so high that the subject appears to be almost real. It evolved in accordance with the criteria of the Académie Français des Beaux-Arts of the 19th century, and as a result, it is often referred to as Academic painting. The method is extremely time-consuming as it is based on four succeeding coats of paint (the picture is painted four times!), each of which has more oil than the one before it. This leads to finer details and greater tridimensionality. However, realist painting differs from photographic painting since it maintains the typical charm of pictorial art. For further information, see the Tutorials section of my website, www.timelessfineart.com Thanks to a digital zoom lens, a detailed enlargement of this artwork can be scanned on the Paintings-People and Human Environments page of the author’s website. Both the artwork and the signed Certificate of Authenticity bear a customized, tamper-evident Swiss-made hologram (www.3dag.ch) with the author's logo, the URL QR code, and an exclusive alphanumeric code.

I was born and raised in the highly emotional empty spaces of the Brazilian interior, received my art education in Scotland, and am now based in Italy and Brazil. My timeless scenes evoke silence and stillness, unveiling the intimate nature of things. A range of subjects are covered. The attention to human and social problems due to my humanistic university training often leads me to portray places that are usually full of people. However, I represent them as almost empty, emphasizing both human loneliness and our constant inner search. While living in Ethiopia in 1998–1999, I discovered a marked natural predisposition for painting. I devoted myself to this art after relocating to Italy and taking lessons from a professor at the Bologna Academy of Fine Arts. I then decided to commit to furthering my art knowledge. As a result, in 2015 I relocated to Scotland, where I spent a year studying art full-time at the Leith School of Art, the Edinburgh Atelier of Fine Art, and the Edinburgh Drawing School.
