Inspired by the sacred rhino! As a contemporary Artist and Naturopath I have a strong affinity with nature, animals and now especially the rhino. Not only do I paint animals, but I heal them using natural methods. Recently the Black and White Rhinos have been my focus of attention and I cringe at the thought that any human could even consider harming this passive animal (with poor eyesight)...let alone hunt them down for monetary gains. I have always been interested in the spiritual meanings of animals. These meanings have evolved over thousands of years from different cultures. Here is the Spiritual meaning of the Rhino and how it can help you when you have it in your thoughts and presence and on your wall. "Experiment with doing things on your own. Do whatever you need to do to quiet your mind. Be particularly discriminating in your choices and don't make any major decisions without having gathered as much intuitive and intellectual information as possible. You are completely protected from any and all harm, and any appearance otherwise is an illusion. You'll soon be assessing ancient mysteries and wisdom; over time you will assimilate this into your life. You're about to come across a rare and precious item, something personally meaningful to you". - "Spirit Animals - Understanding Messages from your Animal Spirit Guides". Dr Steven Farmer And so with this particular painting, acrylic on canvas, it evolved purely out of the love of a particular animal, the white rhino. The White Rhino has a square lip which gives it also a square shaped jaw. I've brought colour into the skin to highlight the strength of it's musculature in the legs, shoulders and torso. The tusks have also been highlighted in earthy tones with gold metallic highlights. The foreground is a rich, earthy toned abstracted grassland. The sky is also an earthy colour. Rhinos are known to have thick tough skin and have no predators (except for mankind). One of the reasons I do not promote Chinese herbal medicine (only western herbal medicine) is because wealthy poachers shoot the rhino for their horns which are ground up into Asian herbal medicines, completely unnecessary! The passive rhino is a gentle animal, yet strong, resilient and very protective. A signed "Certificate of Authenticity" by the Artist is included.

"If you knew how much work went into it, you would not call it genius!" - Michaelangelo. Australian Artist Marion Parker lives in Melbourne Victoria and works from her studio painting with her dogs by her side. The style is a mix between abstract/street art/grafitti and impressionist - all mixed together. This style has evolved over more than 10 years she has been painting. Most of her own style is self-taught and self-developed. For over 20 yrs she has practised as a Naturopath and Medical Herbalist. She is also a published Author and writer. She founded clinics in Sydney and Melbourne and saw clients from all walks of life including celebrities who have chronic conditions that mainstream medicine cannot treat. Marion also had a regular radio show in Melbourne. A few times each year Marion holds "Creativity, meditation and abstract art weekend workshops". Marion's unique and original oil paintings and mixed media artwork is sought after by Australian and international collectors and she is often asked to paint specific commissions for Architects, Interior Designers and Decorators. Marion uses oils, on large and medium size stretched canvas or linen but also uses other forms of mixed media such as acrylic, ink, pastel, oil stick, mosaics, netting, rhinestones and gold and silver leaf. Over the years her style has developed from realist animal portraiture and landscapes to Fauvism and abstract expression, street art, graffiti, and impressionist. There is a distinctive bold use of colours with rich layers and textures that stand off the canvas. Marion has been influenced by various artists over the years including Albert Kotin, Joan Mitchell, Klimt, De Kooning, Howard Hodgkin, Leonardo da Vinci, Emilio Vedova, John Olsen, Pollock and Gerhard Richter to name a few. Her work has been featured in magazines including Profile, ArtEdit, ArtLife and Gallery. Saatchi Art has awarded her with an "Artist Recognition Award". "My paintings involve an intuitive and energetic explosion of colour, texture and fluidity. I'm inspired by quantum physics, nature and the heart and soul of the places I travel to".
