My first inspirations with precious metals derive from my personal heritage that is intimately involved with both pre-Columbian gold and shamanism. Those traditions inspired in me an impetus to create, in the belief that the glitter of Gold and Silver transmit a magical and fertilizing energy to humanity. My process of metal plating is to achieve a striking reflection, honesty in textures inherited in the material and the serendipity of the unexpected. Ambient light, colors, shapes and movements continuously morph into an ever-changing, ever-captivating imagery. Indeed these works can spark, inspire and give both energy and calmness to the viewer. Here is my Artist Statement: "The moonness of silver creates an electrifying elegance and transient softness. In this embrace, the reflection of silver is both balance and filter, allowing insight into who we are and what we feel. It is through this silver lense that we understand calmness, purity and essence."

Born in Cali, Colombia, Eduardo Terranova studied architecture and design at Rhode Island School of Design. His works are known for his reflective and rich-surface visuals. Terranova’s evolving techniques incorporate plaster, burlap, hand stitching, and precious metals that transform two-dimensional surfaces into sculptural works that flawlessly integrate art, design and craft. Architecture, entropy, landscape and socio-dichotomies are “built” together in his works as light, shadows and an infinity of scintillations emerge to become then, the subject matter of the new relief-like works. The use of gold, inspired by the pre-Columbian artworks gives Terranova the impetus to create, in the belief that the glitter of metals is more than mere reflections, more than optically perceived phenomena. Terranova’s work has been exhibited in many galleries in the United States, Europe and Latin America. He lives and works in New York City.
