About The Artwork
Having grown up on the water as a swimmer and surfer, my innate sense of the ocean flows through my paintbrush onto the canvas. My paintings tend to have a dreamlike, ethereal quality, inspired by a lifetime on the ocean. The inspiration for this particular waterscape came to me during a sunset cruise on a Hinckley picnic boat. Visiting friends in Naples, Florida this past winter, we watched the sun slowly sink into the horizon, casting beautiful tangerine sparkles onto the water. I chose a smooth Belgian linen that allows the oil paint to flow and blend easily. Water can be mesmerizing, as it was for me in the moment that this painting was inspired. I hope it brings peace and calm to your wall.
