"Rittersporn" Painting

In 1967 I was born in Neubrandenburg in East Germany (the former GDR). After school I completed an apprenticeship in the textile industry and then studied fashion design in Berlin, where I graduated in 1986.
It seemed as if all my dreams had come true when I designed and produced my first own fashion line and yet I felt there was still a lingering question about the meaning of my artistic endeavour. In my search for answers, I experienced a new sense of vibrancy and energy that fashion design had been unable to create and express.
As a result I then turned to fine art and found a medium able to express this joie de vivre. Nature provides most of the subjects I depict, primarily in oil. Additionally, watercolour, pastel and Indian ink are also suitable media to convey the lightness, energy and lust for life in my works, and to put the atmosphere, impact and even the authenticity of the moment into colours.
After many years of living in and around Berlin, I moved to a small village in the „Altmark“ – a very rural area in eastern Germany, where I have lived for the past six years. This is where a lot of my works were painted. I was inspired by the area with the river Elbe, the natural landscape, and also by our pets and my garden with all its abundant flowers, scents and colours. The joy of life inherent in it all is my theme and my inspiration.------------------------------------------------

Ich bin 1967 in Neubrandenburg in Ostdeutschland geboren. Nach meinem Schulabschluss ging ich zur Lehre um dann im Anschluss ein Studium an der Fachhochschule für Wirtschaft und Technik in Berlin auf dem Fachgebiet Modedesign zu absolvieren.
In den Jahren meiner selbständigen Tätigkeit als Modedesignerin wurde die Frage in mir nach dem Sinn meines Tuns immer deutlicher obwohl ich mir mit meiner eigenen Modekollektion meinen Traumberuf erfüllte. Auf der Suche nach Erkenntnis und einem tieferen Verstehen dieser Welt hatte ich immer wieder Erfahrungen von einer bis dahin ungekannten Lebendigkeit. In dieser neuen Sichtweise begann ich schließlich, ein Medium zu finden, was dieser Lebendigkeit und Freude zum Ausdruck verhalf. So wandte ich mich immer mehr der Bildenden Kunst zu.
Vor allem in der Natur finde ich meine Sujets und interpretiere Diese vorzugsweise in Öl.
