I'm always the most inspired to paint in an expressionistic manner. I enjoy participating in any activity that moves my chi. I find I am most moved by art by literally moving with it, as if dancing with it. This painting, although small, is no exception. My latest series “Cosmic Swim” was painted with acrylic inks which gives the work a watercolor-feel. The series explores water in three forms: as a liquid, frozen, and in the air, such as in the form of mist or in rainbows. Originally created to mirror the cosmic qualities of swirling waters, these paintings are also my visual representations of the healing effects of Nature. Clean water is nothing short of magic. Compelled to advocate for our environment and for our water, in Cosmic Swim I aim to embody Nature’s magic within each painting, complete with sunlight sparkles and cosmic swirls of energy. Normal ion counts in fresh country air is 2,000-4,000 negative ions per cubic centimeter. At a large water fall you might find over 100,000 negative ions. Negative ions have many healing effects on our bodies, hence the therapeutic associations with visiting an ocean or other body of water. I like to envision these waterfalls carrying away my worries and any negative thoughts. My goal of the Cosmic Water series is to induce relaxation; the paintings serve as a reminder of the healing effects of Nature.

Combining layers of pointillism, impressionism and abstraction, I look to capture the expression of fleeting light and tranquility of mind and space. Light, water and movement are my favorite subjects. ____________________________________ Kristen Pobatschnig is an artist who emphasizes light and movement in a whirlwind of fleeting dots and forms.
