About The Artwork

This is one of a series of works I did as a result of a journey across New Mexico in the Footsteps of Georgia O’Keeffe having seen her major show at Tate Modern in 2016. This is one of her favoured motifs, the Cerritos Pedernal of Ghost Ranch where she lived for many decades, reinterpreted on a larger scale and using my signature style intended to evoke the physicality of the landscape - pronounced textures achieved with materials such as plaster, resin, wax, texture gels, gold and silver leaf on panel . Like all my paintings this one responds to varying light conditions acquiring different coloration and mood as the light moves across it or in artificial light

Born in Warsaw, Poland, now living and working in London, I am a painter and art historian. I've been a painter of wilderness for many years. I interpret it in a complex mixed media technique involving combining pigments with plaster, resin, wax, patinas, texture gels, metal leaf etc to create textured surfaces evocative of the look and feel of the landscapes I observe around the world. My latest project involved me travelling to New Mexico to identify and reinterpret landscape motifs painted and made famous by the Modernist Georgia O’ Keeffe. This is the body of work exhibited at the summer Other Art Fair in July 2019.
