The Davis Lisboa Mini-Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona was created by Davis Lisboa as a continuation of the narrative surrounding artists who created their own museums, such as Marcel Duchamp, Robert Filliou, and Marcel Broodthaers. "The Paintings Section of the Davis Museum" is divided into portraits of Marcel Duchamp, Robert Filliou, and Marcel Broodthaers, and still lifes of the Boîte-en-valise, La galerie légitime, and Musée d'Art Moderne, Département des Aigles. For this painting, Lisboa drew conceptual inspiration from a frame of Robert Filliou's video titled "Teaching and Learning as Performing Arts, Part 2," and formal inspiration from the paintings of Brazilian artist Candido Portinari. Davis Lisboa (São Paulo, Brazil, 1965) is a visual artist based in Barcelona since 1986. Throughout his career, he has worked across diverse media, including drawing, painting, digital art, and video, exploring the boundaries between applied and fine arts, high and low culture, art and the marketplace, as well as craftsmanship and technology. In addition to his work as an illustrator and painter, Lisboa is the creator of the Davis Museum | The Davis Lisboa Mini-Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona, an innovative online project that functions both as a work of art in its own right and as a platform for the promotion of international contemporary artists. This mini-museum, conceived as a conceptual artwork, challenges traditional exhibition conventions by presenting pieces that blur the lines between viewer and artwork, encouraging critical reflection on art accessibility and the democratization of culture. Lisboa has participated in numerous exhibitions and art events of international significance, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the global contemporary art scene.
