ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This is one of the paintings from 'The Paintings Section of Davis Museum Barcelona,' a mini contemporary art museum that I created in 2009 (www.davismuseum.com). My starting point for this painting was a black and white photograph of Robert Filliou, a French artist associated with the Fluxus Movement, wearing his artwork 'Galerie légitime' (1962) on his head. This mobile art gallery, created from a folded paper hat, was exhibited at the 'Defrosting the Frozen Exhibition' in London, 1962. The initial studies were conducted using Artificial Intelligence (AI), transforming the photograph into digital images in a cubist style. When executing the oil painting, I chose to embrace the tropical and festive colors of Latin American art, drawing inspiration from the works of Brazilian artists Cândido Portinari and Alfredo Volpi. Paintings in Private Collections: Alejandro Vásquez Herrero, Viladecans, Spain Ashish Mistry, Atlanta, USA Carles Vidal Garganta, Barcelona, Spain Daniel Marcoux, Montreal, Canada Denise Siqueira, São Paulo, Brazil Francesc Torres, Barcelona, Spain Geert De Kegel, Zele, Belgium James Dacre, London, England James Norton, Blue Ridge, Georgia, USA Joe Smith, New York, USA Johnny Temple, Uxbridge, Canada Peter Verstraeten, Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium Philip Henderson, Atlanta, USA Soteris Argyrou, Nicosia, Cyprus Taylor Smith, Indianapolis, USA Yellowstone Club, Big Sky, Montana, USA
