ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Room In New York is painting by Edward Hopper that portrays two individuals in a New York City flat. It is said to have been inspired by the glimpses of lighted interiors seen by the artist near the district where he lived in Washington Square. The scene of a brightly lit room is contained within the dark sill of a window. The stark framing makes the room the main focus, drawing the eye and giving realness to the action of peeping into a space where the subjects are unaware they are being watched. But of course the whole scene is just a painting hanging in a museum.

I observe it, enlarge it and paint it. That way I freeze time and our fast and busy lives are forever captured in a moment. Finally ready to be observed quietly. About me: I'm an international recognized artist for over 20 years well known for his own style of realism painting. My art is in museums, galleries and private collections worldwide (6 continents, 30 countries). In 2018 I showed his works alongside Warhol, Haring, Banksy and others at a group show at his art dealer in France. I live and work in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands.
