Anže Gallus Petelin's art project - conceived as a lifetime project (from 2022 to 2082) I have had a rooster (petelin) inside me since birth. My surname is Petelin. Until I was 40, I avoided this motif. I did not feel it. I didn't see enough originality in it. So one day, through a large series of...

The painting of Anze Gallus Petelin: Only a handful of young artists manage to produce an extensive, mature and comprehensive range of paintings. Anze Gallus Petelin is one such artist. His creations follow in the tradition of the College for visual arts, a college, that this talented painter and sculptor comes from. A college, that with this flood of various non-artistic visual practices, carefully cultivates painting, as a fundamental visual art. His work is mature and bold and his artistic outlook is built mainly on knowledge and feeling of ever growing human loneliness in a world of superficial human relationships, a world where communication is transfered into virtual space- and yes, there, everything is possible and all is nice and well and everything turns out great. When this artificial quasi image is uncovered, we are left alone in a real space, ever so small in the vastness of the universe. These are the images that dominate Petelin's canvases. Their address is direct but by no means intrusive or definite, they open a field of universality and humanity and give us a possibility for introspection. Assist. Prof. Mladen Jernejec, M.Sc. Dean of College of visual arts
