About The Artwork

My wife and I took an apartment in Bellingham Washington shortly after my mother's passing. We had cared for her the last year and a half of her life. The apartment faced west and overlooked Baker Bay. Our apartment was fitted with full-sized windows facing the water. I would watch the barges moving grain and other supplies in and out of the bay. I have always loved living in Washington State with all of its storms. I especially like the sound of the wind. I imagined being able to row the Irish sea someday. I have it in a frame that I made myself. I custom made the frame so it look like part of the painting. It has hardware ready to hang. I have often dreamed that I was rowing in such a sea off the coast of Ireland where many of my ancestors are from. I hope the viewer can smell and feel the salt air and wind. I have kept this painting all these years because I love it so. And because while working on I often showed to to my mother who was a painter also. It was the last painting I shared with her. I completed it before she passed. It was the last work of mine she would see. I am ok with selling it now that I am older. I finished it when I was 55. I am soon to be 73. Please send me a message with any questions you may have. I would love to know who buys it and where it may be having a new home. Thanks, Mike
