About The Artwork

SATYABATI,as described in Mahabharata, the ancient epic, daughter of a mere fisherman was selected by the king Shantanu. Basically this “Anarya” girl was not aristocratic which is symbolized by describing her as Matsyagandha (the lady with smell of Fish). By the story of becoming a upper class woman, Padmagandha (the lady with smell of lotus) is depicted in Mahabharata. Rishi Parashara’s blessing actually transformed the life of Satyabati.
