"ROYALTY -- and the symbolism thereof; what better way to capture the essence of what that means than a crown. The muted, mono/duo tone colours selected by Paulie X for this piece, are deliberate. The Gold crown is set against a dark, black background, completely absorbing and surrounding the ornate headpiece, but also highlighting it even more. BLACK 'Royalty' --- as an ode to the past, explores the many forgotten crowns of blackness, lost in blackness. Kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses of Kingdoms and Queendoms long lost and forgotten, pillaged and impoverished due to the unfortunate influences of slavery and colonialism over centuries. 'Royalty' --- as a love letter for the now... as hope for the future, is the crown-piece of Paulie's Art series 'Black Kings', and celebrates the many Black Men and Women shining their lightds brighter, no matter what. Sir Lewis Hamilton, John Boyega, Damson Idriss, Idris Elba, Venus and Serena Williams, Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle. Powerful, Poised, Regal. Always. Flourishing, come what may... & doing it in classy style! BLACK KINGS ...& QUEENS! Paulie X"

Paulie is a London-based British-Nigerian, self-taught artist specialising in the study of human emotion in portraiture & figurative expression and symbolism in art. He has been making art since he was about 6 years old... & then took a long 14 year break from it at the age of 13. For the last 7 years since his artistic rejuvenation, he has been (and still is) particularly fascinated in the power and inscrutability of human inexpression. He paints captivating portraits of people, and carefully selects subjects that leave the interpretation of the thoughts, state of mind, & expression of the subjects open to the interpretation of the observer. He paints in several media and has done a lot of art in digital media (with a Microsoft Surface pen), as well as painting and sketching in more traditional media -- charcoal, graphite, and acrylic paints in a wide-ranging and varied set of expressive styles. Artist quote: "I'm excited to show you the beauty I see! • Art isn't what you see; Art is what you make others see!"
