"SOLD 'Emerald Oceans' by Edward Bowie" Painting

A seascape artist based on the coast of Pembrokeshire, Wales. Having grown up on the coast of Pembrokeshire, my art has undoubtedly been inspired by being in, on, and around the ocean. For many years I worked as a surfing and coasteering instructor on the St. Davids peninsula, allowing me to gain a valuable and unique insight into the surrounding natural environment. This has of course had a profound impact upon my painting. I capture movement and take aspects of the natural environment:, light, atmosphere, emotion, and transfer them into a visual form. The artwork I create then encompasses both the physical and non-physical, and I work to breathe life onto the canvas, in order to give the viewer the sensation of freedom and to demonstrate the beauty of the outside world. A world full of ever-changing light, movement and colour. In 2011 I embarked on an 18 month painting expedition around the world, working amongst some of the most extreme natural environments on Earth – unforgiving deserts, lush tropical rainforests, inspiring seascapes and harsh mountain vistas.
