SULTAN Painting

I always loved questioning life in depth. My adventure of finding my unique way of reflecting this on to the canvas , is a process extending to my childhood. I start creating puzzles of ‘life , myself and people’ in very early ages of my life. ‘Istanbulmaca’ (Istanbul puzzle) Series gains its inspiration from my early stages of searching the ways to solve these puzzles, during my dwelling years in istanbul where my self awareness increased continiously. In these paintings I share my ‘deep’ puzzles. By hiding stories and personalities in my ‘Istanbulmaca’ (Istanbul puzzle), I inspire the wiever to wiev their own diversified stories. I draw figures in layers to intersect the stories of people. Intersecting lines create common stories and common sense. I erase or block some of the lines i initially draw. I erase because, we erase part of our memories which we prefer to forget or we feel we do not need. I block because sometimes it is hard to face them, as we cannot give up cruising on the safe waters. We cannot take risks even if it means our lives, we just ignore and forget. Some stories leave such deep marks in our lives, even we forget our initial portray, and we tend to characterise ourselves with these new colors. While putting all this together, I want to attract the attention on the harmony of the completeness of the universe. I am thrilled by the quest of locating even the tiniest dot in the right place to carry this harmony into my paintings. The key sentence: 'Let's gaze at each other where railroads cross milestones...'
