Ah...Old Glory...Stars and stripes forever...long may it wave. The American flag means so many things to so many people all over the world. The flag has been honored, glorified--and burned. Artist Jasper Johns elevated the symbolism of the flag in his Flag paintings beginning in the 1950s. This is my tribute to Johns and to the things the flag stands for.
