Welcome to my world of art. I am Liv Olsen, a contemporary artist based in the heart of Germany. Discovering My Passion I have always been fascinated by nature. Growing up in the countryside with a deep connection to animals, meadows, forests, and a hilly natural landscape, I developed a profound bond with the natural world. Through many travels and this close relationship with nature, it is now a great joy for me to reconstruct these deep experiences and capture them on canvas. Interestingly, as a young child, I wasn't particularly fond of painting. However, everything changed when I was 13 years old. While exploring the attic of my parents' house, I stumbled upon an old, dusty box. Curiosity piqued, I took the box to my mother and asked her what it was. Inside, I found silver tubes of paint, old-fashioned yet beautiful in their own way. My mother explained that they were my grandfather's old oil paints. From that moment, my love for oil paints was born. I was fascinated by the process of mixing colors, the endless possibilities it offered, and how the colors would blend yet retain their distinctiveness. However, oil paints were quite an expensive pursuit for a 13-year-old, so I transitioned to acrylics. I began painting pictures with acrylics, and due to the lack of canvases, I started painting on large-sized chipboards. The first ones were still painted in oil, and those moments were truly special for me. My Grandfather's Influence My grandfather plays a significant role in my journey as an artist. He was an entrepreneur, an avid art collector, and a painter himself. There is a reel on my Instagram account where I tell the story of how, during a bombing night in World War II, he couldn't sleep and went down to the cellar to paint a very large and impressive artwork, which still hangs in my parents' house today. In the style of the time, it featured a deer with a mountainous landscape in the background. Perhaps some of the paints from that old dusty box were used for that painting. Who knows... but I like to think so. This intense period of needing to paint constantly led to exhibitions at the local town hall, as well as my works being displayed in shops, medical practices, law firms, and other professional settings. The technique and love for vibrant colors have always been my companions. Returning to Art Despite my passion for art, I decided not to pursue a career as an artist initially.
