ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Medieval and pre-renaissance themes and motifs fascinate me and regularly inspire me in my artistic creation. Christian civilization and its wars to defend its values is at the heart of my latest series (2022-2023). “Saint George and the dragon” is a theme very often used in European culture: a saint protector of peoples, embodied in the fight of good against evil. I started this series when the war in Ukraine begun (24 februari 2022). Now this war has been going on for more than 2 years. In our world of war and deep crisis, I take up this classic theme in a series of works of art.I portray elements from the allegory ( the spear, the sword, the shield, the wings, the dragon and the knight) and update the theme freely.
