"Saint Mary's beauty" Painting

I was born and raised in Vercelli, in the North of Italy, where I currently live.

I have always been passionate about art, since when I was a child. In terms of artistic influences, I’m especially fond of Greek and Roman art, and also the art from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Currently, I’m discovering and admiring the Japanese art, both modern painting and
Nihonga style.

The main theme of my paintings are people.
While observing the gaze of people for my portraits I can feel the wide spectrum of human emotions and purposes thanks to the people I’m painting on the canvas, which otherwise I find difficult to express with words.

I believe that we are all driven by the need to preserve and improve the quality and continuity of our existence; similarly, contributing to the well-being of others is one of the most powerful forces of human motivation. I also believe that connecting with others is one of the fundamental human needs that drive our behavior.

We have different options to connect with others: in this context, the gaze is a powerful means of connection that transcends time and space, in life and in art.

Condensed within a glance is truly the entire interiority of an individual. It is no coincidence that a person’s face is outlined through the contraction or relaxation of facial muscles, revealing feelings such as joy or fear.
But the gaze is what, more than anything, expresses the soul, revealing both the past and the present of our existence.

Throughout the history of art, the eyes have come to be an interface between the external world and the interiority of the person, fully following Kundera,s thought: "The eye is the window of the soul, the fulcrum of the beauty of the face, the point where the identity of an individual is concentrated".

I would like to describe human beings' complex inner intentions and desire of connection with my portraits.
I would like to express from my "silent" paintings the intention that existed in a human being in a present moment.

It is ok if my inner thoughts do not reach the person who is looking at my paintings, because human beings' inner mind is so complex that even oneself is not aware of.

I would like to express with my paintings that the receiver can take it as if either who is represented in the painting is happy, lonely, positive or sad; what I want receivers to feel is the energy and intention that definitely existed in that present moment.
