About The Artwork
Painted after hiking on Sakhalin Island in the Far East of Russia. We battled the wind and sliding rocks to reach a fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean. You can see my two Russian friends hiking along the top of the ridge. The remains of Soviet bunkers could be seen down the hill. I was inspired by this rough, unforgiving, yet beautiful landscape and the independent and strong people that populate it.
