About The Artwork
This work was inspired by the changing landscape in this area due to the dam and the hydropower project taken up by the Kenya Government. Both of them have been wrangled by conflict since the beginning due to tribal land pressure and the usual political corruption. Built in a remote village on the border of Pokot North and Turkana South, the dam has also been criticised by local leaders and environmentalists who claim it has failed to achieve its objectives. It makes me sad to think that places of such unbelievable natural beauty are corrupted by greed and conflict.
