Nicolas Bouteneff is essentially a self taught artist. Love of nature, a passion for the colors, and the desire to capture the beauty of spaces around him, have put him in a deeper search for creativity and inspiration on dynamics of light. His primary medium is oil (although he occasionally uses watercolors and acrylics). His aesthetic resonates mostly in still lifes and en plein air landscapes. This exposure to the outdoors gave him a profound attachment to all aspects of nature. Lately he is experimenting with abstract concepts. Repeated visits to major galleries in various capitals in Europe and the US, taught Nicolas to appreciate the creativity of the great masters. In addition, he attended a studio under the guide of Zizka Bogush in London. He participated in a workshop with Stephen Quiller, in Acadia, Maine. He has taken art courses at the City University of New York. He is an active member of the Plein Air Painters of New York. He studies at the Art Students League in New York City with Gregg Kreutz, Thomas Torak, Costa Vavagiakis, Max Ginsburg.. Recently he switched to Abstract Painting with Frank O'Cain. Membership: Oil Painters of America (OPA), New York State Organization of PLEIN AIR PAINTERS (NYPAP), Art Students League in New York City
