The Vallejo Street Stairway is one of many stairways in San Francisco, and is located near Telegraph Hill. It was from here that the artist drew a sketch of the expansive cityscape, which includes the downtown area, the Bay Bridge and Oakland. He later transformed the sketch into this painting, which captures all the pinks, blues and grays of San Francisco in its foggy glory,

Craig Moran was born in Washington, DC, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Studio Art at the University of Virginia (UVA). He received a fifth-year arts fellowship at UVA, and completed a Post-Baccalaureate in Painting and Drawing at the School of Art Institute of Chicago. Mr. Moran has lived in San Francisco and Chicago, as well as various parts of Virginia. He currently resides in Washington, DC.
