San Miguel de Allende Painting

I was inspired by my trip to Mexico. I remember the cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and warm light on the walls. My friend, Nina Weiss, took this image from her trip San Miguel de Allende. I hope viewers will be transported to that place. I want them to get excited about the thick brush strokes (impasto). I applied most of the paint with a palette knife. I was able to spread it onto the wood and then scrape into it with a scraffito technique to etch out some of the lines. I painted this image in a direct manner that was less methodical than some of my other paintings. I was in an expressive mood and wanted to unleash my energy.
