About The Artwork

This painting was inspired by a series of photographs and collages of a subject posed as Marcel Moore, the partner and collaborator of photographer Claude Cahun. The pair collaborated on Cahun's self portraits as well as a series of leaflets resisting the Nazi occupation of the island of Jersey. This is a part of a larger body of work researching their life and activism. The painting is on half-inch birch plywood and can be hung by d-rings that are attached to the back.
