Sardines Painting

TONY WEISS The artist’s work is a tribute to sustainability and mindful consumption. Through his/her upcycling creations, the artist aims to encourage reflection on the careful use of the Earth’s finite resources and the impact of our ecological footprint. The painting surfaces, often unique pieces with a story to tell, are sourced from a variety of contexts: driftwood collected from the Aare river, materials from complete renovations in Bern, finds from mountain hikes or travels to the artist’s homeland, as well as discoveries in abandoned East German industrial sites or vacant ruins. These distinctive objects already carry their own narrative even before being transformed into art. The work is not only shaped by its ecological message but also by the fascination with the origins and textures of the materials. Using brushes, ink, and deep black acrylic paint, the artist creates hand-painted, one-of-a-kind pieces that turn each object into a unique work of art. Every piece reflects its origin and the artist’s signature touch—a fusion of sustainability, history, and creative expression. Made in Bern, inspired by the world.
