Art Description

Painting: Acrylic on Wood.

"In the long dusks of summer we walked the suburban streets through scents of maple and cut grass, waiting for something to happen" Steven Millhauser, Dangerous Laughter

This series of paintings called "Thinking of summer" was the result of experimenting with acrylics on board. I limited my pallet to colours which invoked a summer feeling and in some of the later paintings I was inspired by the muted pastels of the 50s and 60s. The flatness and chalkiness of acrylic paint seems particularly suited to the suggestion of summer. All of the titles come from Nick Drake song titles.

I'm interested in capturing moments of reflection and invoking atmosphere in my portrayal of figures.
