ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting is part of a body of work based on Goya's 'Black Paintings'. This painting came about when I was thinking how I could make a worthwhile version of Goya's Saturn. The strength of Goya's piece is the abstract setting which puts your entire focus on Saturn's manic expression and on the act. I thought that by adding a context (which in this case was a sketch of Goya's 'Making Shot in the De Sierra Tardienta' that I had kicking around) and turning it around as an expression of the manic state of the Titan.
