During this time we sailed 35,000 nm (approx. 55,000 km) from Europe to Australia. We had a decisive experience on our Pacific crossing: In the middle of the night we were able to observe a fishing fleet consisting of three ships on the radar, which dragged a 50 km!! long net with them. Ultimately, we had to start the engines to escape this gigantic net. Until today I‘m still appalled by the incredible size of the net. This artwork is painted on a part of our mainsail. A big storm tore it apart on our way to Hawaii. Fishing is the greatest threat to marine wildlife. 70% percent of macro plastic at sea comes from fishing gear. Bottom trawling releases as much carbon as air travel. Fishing kills 30.000 sharks every hour. 24.000 fisheries workers die on the job per year. Worth seeing: the documentation "Seaspiracy" to understand the effects of fishing on our oceans. I'm a fulltime freelance artist since 2003, you can find my work in galleries (London, Madrid, Melbourne), exhibitions, art fairs and in collections all over the world. room view - example/dimensions may not scale

I’m working as a professional freelance artist since 2003. In 2009 I changed my life and moved onto a sailing yacht with my husband and two kids. An incredible journey began: 7 years, 30.000 nm / 55.000 km, 28 countries. Storms, waves, transatlantic passages, the almost incomprehensible size of the Pacific, weeks with no land in sight, isolated islands... but also vibrant cities like Sydney, Panama City and New York, where we anchored in the Hudson river in front of the skyline of Manhattan for months. I spent one and a half year in French-Polynesia and got familiar with the Polynesian culture: Don‘t rush, take your time, live the moment. During the years on the sea I got inspired by the different cultures and people I met, as a result my work changed from abstract art to human faces. But sometimes I'm going back to my roots for abstract work. Mainly in elegant black & white, sometimes with colored accents, sometimes with silver/copper/gold leaves technique. Today I‘m living and working in the wonderful medieval city Regensburg (world heritage) on an island in the river Danube.
