Painter/Sculptor born 1964
Figurative and architectural abstractionist
Paul has been painting professionally for over 25 years. Painted works rely mainly on an oil based discipline.
Paul's work has considered love and death, together with the romantic and poetic side of life.
Paul was originally accepted to Jacob Kramer College of Art in Leeds in the early 1980's. Even at this young age Paul shunned the un-emotive and systematic teaching of art as was prevalent at that time. He then worked to private client's commissions. Very few examples of this work exist to this day; those that do exist are held in private collections.
After many years of success within the I.T. industry, Paul returned to Art and completed the Contemporary Art Practice degree course at the Leeds Metropolitan University. Paul completed a number of works in mixed media including video, sound and installation. Works completed at this time considered the themes of fact, truth, belief and theology. In 2010 Paul began curating, and produced a number of shows, including his first one-man show "You do, you just don't".
Paul's other interests include song writing and performing. He also is a figure drawing model. He believes this is crucial to his understanding of representing the essence of the human figure and condition.
Paul continues to show at exhibitions, having recently completed a number of works for an art exhibition in Chapel Allerton, Leeds. In 2012, he was awarded a public commission by Morley Council for Leeds.
