Stan Kazanjian began his career in the mid 1950’s in design, illustration, and abstract expressionism. In his early years, he worked in the animation industry in character design and storyboarding for tv commercials. He was also an artist for children’s books and film for national distribution. Part of the bohemian art scene of the 50’s and 60’s when artists threw paint on canvases, Stan lived and worked in Los Angeles, Laguna Beach, and the Bay Area as well as with a small group of underground artists in New York’s Greenwich Village. During his time there, he also designed album covers for jazz musicians. Influenced by masters of the genre like Jackson Pollock, Willian De Kooning, Hans Hoffman, Robert Motherwell, and Franz Klein, Stan is now an established Southern California artist known for bright colors and his own take on mid-century expressionism. He has had and continues to have private and gallery showings for his art up and down the West Coast. Kazanjian’s other projects have included working as an art director on campaigns for Occidental Petroleum, Baskin-Robbins, Vons/Pavilions, City of Pasadena, and Met Life.
