ABOUT THE ARTWORK
A school of fish sweeps by the viewer, spiraling upward through the cosmic-like water. This painting was painted with acrylic on linen. Gold leaf adds some light and warmth to this cool ocean palette. Silver leaf brings a life-like shimmering reflection to the fish. Organic splashes of paint provide a staining effect throughout the underpainting. Expanded dots and forms create the cohesion and movement of a school of fish, in pure silver and 24k gold leaf. This large painting measures 4’x8’ and can hang either vertically or horizontally. Ships unstretched, rolled up in a tube.

Combining layers of pointillism, impressionism and abstraction, I look to capture the expression of fleeting light and tranquility of mind and space. Light, water and movement are my favorite subjects. ____________________________________ Kristen Pobatschnig is an artist who emphasizes light and movement in a whirlwind of fleeting dots and forms. As indicated in her paintings, she is fascinated by movement. She paints primarily in acrylic, in what she considers a kinetic-pointillist style. In addition to painting, she also creates kinetic sculptures and wall sculptures. She was recently featured in the ebook, “Kinetic Pointillism: An Emerging Movement”. Kristen has a growing number public art installations throughout the US. She has collaborated with numerous organizations including hospitals, public schools, interior designers, and individuals throughout her creative journey, and is inspired by many. In October 2023 she opened Colors in Space Studio & Gallery in Fryeburg, ME. She is a 2006 graduate of Colby-Sawyer College.
