Sculptor’s Studio Painting

While visiting St.Ives, I wandered into the Barbara Hepworth Studio and museum and garden. Barbara Hepworth was a famous sculptor and contemporary and friend of Henry Moore who tragically died in a fire in this her home and studio in St.Ives. The house, studio and gardens have been lovingly restored into a small museum exhibiting her work. There is a large picture window which you can look through from the garden to her studio where large chunks of stone, tools, Artist’s smocks stand ready for her to walk in and continue her work. The light and shadows were so beautiful I had to paint it.
