Sea of Blue Green Painting

This work is inspired by color field drip works. It was created by thinning the paint to a stain like consistency and the applying the paint with rags a brushes. The thinner semi-transpiration stains allow the canvas structure to show through. The thicker paints creates the darker parts of the painting, the work is done in a blue green monochromatic scheme. Thinners are applied to drip the drip areas of the paint allowing even more canvas to be through the paint (see detail) This work is not meant to be framed, but rather float free unencumbered by stretchers and frames. Typically, I hang these works using 4 to 6 clear push pens across the top (1/2 inch from the top). The pens push through the fabric weave leaving the canvas fully intact. The free hanging work mimics the soft canvas fabric on which it was created and exposed edges complete the floating aesthetic.
